Getting around Palermo
Public Transport
If you choose to stay in the historic center, walking is the best option for almost all of the tourist activities listed on the dedicated page .
However, if you need to leave the historic center, you may need to use public transport, so here is a list of the most useful lines:
Airport-City Center: Metro A
Palermo-Mondello: bus 806
Palermo-Vergine Maria - Addaura: bus 603
Urban mobility is further enhanced by the presence of electric scooters available for rent. Their use is generally discouraged because the city is full of potholes and Palermo's driving style is not exactly orthodox.
It is not possible to rely on public transport to reach the party.
Taxi
Private taxi: airport-city center, cost approximately €40, journey time 35 minutes.
Shared taxi: airport-city center, cost between €8.00-€10.00 per passenger.
Car rental
If you choose to rent a car, you'll certainly have greater freedom when traveling and, for example, you'll be able to get to the party without having to resort to taxis.
However, keep in mind that Palermo has a limited traffic zone (ZTL) , so to get around the historic center you need to buy a day pass unless your hotel has an agreement with it.
We also highly recommend purchasing comprehensive insurance. In the past, we've had excellent experiences with SicilyByCar.
